Flatten the competition. This type of whisk is specially designed to incorporate flour into melted butter when making a roux, lightly beat eggs in a shallow bowl, deglaze a pan, incorporate oil for a salad dressing in a flat-bottomed bowl, or beat eggs for an omelet.

Foster’s quick tip: Deglazing your pans—using stock or wine to loosen the browned bits of food clinging to the cooking surface—is a simple way to bring extra flavor and color to a sauce or gravy. After removing meat (or caramelized vegetables), return cooking pan to moderate heat. Pour in deglazing liquid and stir with the Chef’n silicone whisk until liquid begins to simmer, making sure to scrape the bottom, loosening any browned bits of caramelized food to bring them into the sauce. Simmer to reduce and slightly thicken the deglazing liquid, about 3 minutes. Then serve as a pan sauce or strain and add to gravy.
